The fifth round of the Northern Regions Junior Max Championship was a good one for Leyton Fourie with the Bidvest Compendium Insurance Brokers’ driver running in the front pack in all three races.
Leyton put in a strong qualifying performance, claiming third on the grid. His time was just four hundredths of a second off second place and one tenth off pole. His qualifying pace put him in a good position during the first race, where he was quickly up to second place. Leyton held this position for the majority of the race until he was forced wide on the final corner, losing two positions. He took the flag in fourth.
The second race held much of the same, with Leyton putting in a strong performance to claim a podium finish. The final race of the day was a long, hard fought 15 lapper. Leyton drove a smart race, focusing on maximising his points intake. The talented youngster took his Tony Kart to a fourth place finish.
“RKT did an outstanding job last weekend. We did lack a bit of pace but we understand the reasons for that and I am happy with the results. We win as a team and we lose as a team. I think it was very important to claim as many points as possible in this penultimate round. It is going to be another very busy month with both a Rok event and the final Rotax National both taking place in September,” explained Leyton.
“I am truly blessed and grateful to be in a position to follow my dreams,” he concluded.
