It was a busy day for Leyton at Laserfiche Raceway on Saturday (5 August 2017) as he not only competed in six action packed races, but translated his hard work into six podium finishes.
Leyton had very good pace all weekend and spent many laps in the lead pack in both the Mini Max and Mini Rok classes. Whilst six, second place finishes are a fantastic result, the maturity and strategy planning that came from Leyton was even more impressive.
Every racer, in every sporting discipline, wants to win and this fierce passion is sometimes detrimental to results. It takes great restraint and ability to race with your head and not with your right foot, but this is exactly what Leyton did.
In both categories, Leyton came under attack from Jarrod Waberski, but instead of taking crazy risks and potentially ending up off the circuit, Leyton gave up the lead, knowing that strategically second place was more than enough to increase his championship.
There can be no doubt that bringing his head and heart together is going to take Leyton very far in the sport. Of course, motorsport is a team sport and it is with great thanks to RKT and Kosmic Kart that Leyton is in a position to pick and choose his battles. Leyton holds on to the Northern Regions Mini Max lead and is a close second in Mini Rok. #WellDoneLeyton #RKT #Kosmic
