Leyton Fourie

Leyton Fourie is beginning to look unstoppable after taking another two race wins and a first overall for the day at the third round of the 2019 Northern Regions OKJ championship.

The Vaal Kart Circuit provided some action packed racing on Saturday (25 May 2019), but Leyton’s performance definitely stood out. The RKT driver set the stage by claiming pole position for the first race. Whilst he had some competition for the position, Leyton’s calm, unflustered demeanour took him to victory.

Race two was a bit more challenging. Leyton had a good start, but lost the lead. Instead of panicking and making reckless challenges for the position, Leyton drove a careful and methodical race. His patience paid off and after the race leader retired with brake failure, Leyton was able to charge into the lead. Leyton “simply” continued on his path, defended his new position from two hard charging competitors and took a brilliant race win.

The pressure was off for the final heat and Leyton shifted to a more conservative strategy. He drove a solid race to take a podium finish and secure the number one spot for the day.

His massive points haul has pushed Leyton into the lead of the championship, it is, however, the change in his driving style and the maturity with which Leyton is taking to the track, which will see his through into the future.

“A massive thank you to RKT, my sponsors (Bidvest Compendium Insurance Brokers, Express Hire, Remote Hygiene and National Pride Trading) and family for their amazing support and for always believing in me,” enthused Leyton.
