Leyton Fourie is back in South Africa and ready to put his confidence and experience gained in Europe to good use in the second round of the South African Rok Cup this weekend.
It has been a whirlwind few weeks for Leyton, who has just returned from Belgium, where he gained more than a few new fans with his outstanding performance. With support from Team KMS Exprit, Leyton finished second overall for the day in the Belgium National Junior Max Championship, but it was in the Rotax Euro open that he really shone.
After two front row starts and a fastest lap, Leyton placed 6th in the Pre-Final. Having to start 10th in the Final due to a penalty he drove his heart out against the best in Europe to take the flag in 8th place.
With no rest, Leyton now heads straight to Port Elizabeth to compete in the SA OKJ Championship. Leyton is the current point’s leader, after taking two of the three race wins at Vaal Kart Circuit last month.
“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to race in Europe again. The experience was fantastic and thanks to the support from KMS and GKS the results speak for themselves,” exclaimed Leyton.
“My focus is now completely on the OKJ championship and I know that together with RKT, we can stay at the top of the point’s log,” he concluded.
There is no doubt that Leyton will be challenging for the win at Celso Scribante on Saturday 27 April 2019.
